This was Selmer's first attempt (that I know of) to produce a sopranino saxophone.  Selmer is also one of the only companies to currently produce this saxophone, the only other company that I know of is LA Sax.  Production of this model started in 1986.  This instrument plays in the key of Eb, one octave above the alto.  Model 50 has a range from F# to Bb.  This saxophone had a verity of lacquer/plate options.  You could have the standard clear lacquer finish, black lacquer, white lacquer, silver plate, and gold plate.  Model 50 comes standard with a hand engraved bell, an adjustable thumb hook, ribbed point construction, stainless steel rods & screws, tapered pivot screws, blued steel screws, Kid pads with metal tone boosters, a Selmer (Paris) hard rubber mouthpiece, and a wood shell case.
